Former Essendon vice captain Andrew Welsh iscurrently in New York as Hurricane Sandy bears down on the city.

Forecasters expect the super storm to hitthe East Coast of the United States with New York expected to be the worst hit.
Welsh said it was a surreal feeling withone of the biggest cities in the world currently in lock down.
“Today New York city has been like a ghosttown with hardly anything open and no one in the streets,” Welsh said.
“The winds are really picking up thisafternoon and rain is starting to come quiet heavily as the Hurricane is justoff the coast.”
Welsh said everyone in the city hadbunkered down and were awaiting the storm to pass through.
“We had to stock up on supplies today asthey think the city will be shut down for a few days.”
“We feel safe in my apartment as it’s a newbuilding in the meatpacking district and the staff are making sure everythingis as smooth as possible.”
The former Bomber is currently gainingacting experience while in the United States and said he is enjoying his timeover there.
“It is an awesome place, very busy andalways something new around the corner.”
“I am currently getting some greatexperience and enjoying living abroad for the first time.”
“I had a few of the players come throughover the last month and it was great to catch up with them before they haveback to begin pre-season training.”
