Myers said the reason behind his decision to re-sign was simple.
“I think it was evident from the first half of the season that we can play exciting football and are capable of matching it with the best teams. We’re willing to do whatever it takes to make this Club successful and I feel that we are on the right track,” said Myers.
Despite the strong pull of family to return home to WA, Jetta said the friendships he’d made at Windy Hill played a big part in his decision.
“We’re a close group, and I want to be a part of this team, because I think we can achieve great things together.”
“Playing alongside my close mates Paddy Ryder, Alwyn Davey and Courtenay Dempsey made the decision to stay at the Bombers easy,” said Jetta.
Senior coach James Hird said he was pleased to have re-signed Myers and Jetta, along with a number of key players this season.
“It’s a great show of faith in the direction we are heading” Hird said.
“David and Leroy are both important players for the Club and an integral part of our future.”
“We’ve got a long summer ahead of us on the training track and a lot of hard work to ensure we get better andimprove on the year we had in 2012.”
“It is fantastic to have now secured most of our core group of players ahead of the 2013 season.”
Myers was Essendon’s first round selection (number 6 overall) at the 2007 national draft and has played 45 games and kicked 11 goals for the Bombers.
Jetta was taken with the Club’s priority selection (number 18 overall) at the 2006 National Draft and has played 83 games and booted 73 goals for the Bombers.
