Essendon has named two changes to its round five side to take on Melbourne at the Adelaide Oval.

Saturday afternoon's Gather Round fixture against the Dees will see Dyson Heppell resume his place in the best 22 after being activated as last week's sub, while Will Snelling has earned his first senior game for the season.

Coming out of the side is key forward Sam Weideman after he suffered concussion against GWS, while small forward Alwyn Davey Jnr has been managed after four consecutive games since his debut.

The Bombers will complete a Captain's run at the NEC Hangar on Friday before flying out to Adelaide ahead of Saturday.
