Coming off a strong performance against Richmond in the Bombers’ Dreamtime at the ‘G victory, the ever-reliable Nic Martin is embracing the opportunities of playing with a big Melbourne-based club.

In an interview with SEN WA, Martin reflected on the opportunity to play on Anzac Day and in the Dreamtime at the ‘G and how he still has to pinch himself after growing up in Western Australia.

“You realise how special it is to play in these games, for all those involved," Martin said.

Emerging as a SSP addition for the 2022 season, Martin has taken every opportunity with both hands at the Bombers, which has seen him settle into his position on the wing.

In his second season, Martin wants to nail down his wing role, especially after the belief senior coach Brad Scott instilled in his running ability.

“Brad has touched on how we are a strength-based team, and right now my strengths are on the wing and my running ability,” Martin said.

“I’m very happy to play my wing role.”

With the senior leaders passing on their experience and wisdom to a youthful Bombers side, Martin is excited for the future of the young group.

“We’re all quite young, and we’re growing together.” Martin said.

“We’re a close-knit group”.

Martin will be relishing in the opportunity to play at home with friends and family in attendance, hoping to celebrate a win. However, he knows that the team will still have to bring their best.

“If you are not switched on, any team can beat you on any given day,” Martin said.

“It will be another opportunity for the group to travel and hopefully get the job done.”
