Henry Slattery is a potential 200 game player for Essendon - his former West Adelaide coach Shaun Rehn believes - and providing he can get physically ready he expects Slattery to make is senior debut for the Bombers in 2005.
Slattery, 18, was drafted from West Adelaide by the Bombers with selection 46 in the 2004 National draft.
Being drafted to the Bombers completed a good year for the teenager who played the final seven matches of the season in the seniors for West Adelaide and represented South Australia in the under 18 side.
A left footer with good hands and neat skills, Slattery has played most of his career on a wing or in the midfield and he may develop into a ruck rover in the coming seasons for Essendon.
And his former coach believes good things are in store for Slattery, ""if he can get his body up and running and is physically ready he is definitely capable of playing this year. The way he attacks the footy he won’t be out of sorts in the AFL."" Rehn said.
""His attitude is his greatest strength, he is a hard trainer and stays on the line of the footy regardless, and he is extremely courageous. He is a great tackler and always does the 'one percenters' like shepherding and smothering, he really has the basics to build on as an AFL player.""
""If improvement is needed in any area of this game it is his ability to be more two sided, but being in a professional environment like Essendon will help improve this area."" Rehn believes.
""Henry is very driven and comes from a very good family background with lots of support, all being well Essendon should have themselves a 200 game player..""
