The dust has barely settled on the 2003 season but the Essendon squad isabout to commence its 2004 pre-season. Training kicks off for the team onMonday, November 10th and according to football manager Dominic Cato thefirst week will be fairly light on. ""Basically week one of pre-season willinvolve meetings and fitness testing. From then on it will be a veryintensive program. Our fitness coach John Quinn is in the process offinalising the program this week,"" Cato said.

Similar to the 2002/2003 pre-season, the team will conduct the majority oftheir training sessions at La Trobe University. ""Most of our skillssessions will be held at the oval at La Trobe University in Bundoora. Thesurface is fantastic to train on and with Windy Hill unavailable due to thecricket season it is the next best option for us. As we have done in thepast a number of other venues will also be used also for our differenttraining sessions,"" Cato said.

At this stage it is likely the team will participate in a training campbefore Christmas. Cato said the coaching staff is still finalising thesedetails but it is likely the camp will go ahead in early December. ""We willalso go to Warrnambool on the AFL training and promotional camp. We have agreat supporter base down at Warrnambool and in the surrounding regions, soit will be a good opportunity for the locals to watch the team train andmeet the players and coaching staff,"" the Bombers' football manager said.

As has become tradition over the past several years, Essendon will playSydney at North Sydney Oval on Saturday, February 14th in an Exhibitionmatch. This will kick start Essendon's pre-season campaign before they meetFremantle in Round 1 of the Wizard Cup in Darwin.
