The Essendon Football Club is delighted to announce that utility Harry Jones has signed a new two-year contract, committing him to the Bombers until at least the end of the 2027 season.
Jones, a talented and popular figure at the club, played the first seven games of the 2025 season before suffering an ankle injury in the match against North Melbourne in Round 8.
A versatile talent who has proven to be a weapon for the Bombers across multiple positions this season, Jones expressed his excitement to continue his journey with Essendon.
"I'm really excited to commit to the club for another two years. I love playing for Essendon, and I'm pumped to continue building something special with this group. The direction we're heading in is promising, and I want to be a key part of our success ahead,” Jones said.
As a lifelong Bomber fan, Jones spoke of the relentless commitment of Essendon members and supporters every week.
"The fans' support has been incredible, and I'm so grateful for their passion. Their energy at the games is a huge motivator, and we’re all determined to reward their faith in us."
General Manager of List and Recruiting, Matt Rosa, said the club is thrilled to secure Jones's services for the next two seasons and look forward to his continued contribution on and off the field.
“While his early AFL journey was hampered by injury, the past two seasons have showcased Harry's consistent improvement and the development of his game. We believe his best football is still ahead of him once he returns from his latest set-back, and we're incredibly confident in his potential as he approaches his peak at this level," Rosa stated.
"Beyond his on-field abilities, Harry is an outstanding clubman. His energy and enthusiasm are invaluable, and he wholeheartedly embraces the culture we're building. He's a true asset to this team, both on and off the field."
Jones’ expected return to play is yet to be determined as he recovers from a dislocated ankle and minor foot fracture.
