Daniel Giansiracusa has informed Essendon he will seek coaching opportunities elsewhere in 2026 and has accepted a new role as Head of Development at the Hawthorn Football Club.

The Assistant Coach spent five seasons with the Club's coaching panel, initially working with the backline ahead of the 2021 season before moving to the midfield coaching role from 2023 onwards.

GM – AFL Daniel McPherson thanked Giansiracusa for his service to the Club and wished him well for the future.

"We thank 'Gia' for his contribution over the past five years. He has been an important part of our coaching group, having overseen the midfield group in recent years.

“We understand his desire to become a senior coach and that rounding out his CV with a different role in the development area was important to him and we respect that decision.

“We wish Gia and his family all the best for their next move.”

The Club has begun the process of reviewing its coaching structure and roles.
