Essendon is pleased to announce that defender Mia Busch has signed a oneyear contract extension, securing her place in the red and black until at least the end of the 2027 season.

The extension reflects Busch’s continued impact at the Club, both on and off the field. A member of Essendon’s Emerging Leaders group last year, the 21yearold is regarded as an influential figure within the playing group, consistently living the Club’s values.

The 2025 season marked Busch’s strongest campaign so far, underpinned by consistent performances throughout the year. Averaging nearly 14 disposals and four tackles per game, she reinforced her importance through discipline and defensive reliability.

Essendon AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Josh Moore shares the Club’s excitement for the extension, praising Busch’s professionalism and development.

“'Buschy' is an absolute professional on and off the field, and her diligence and growth over the years has been outstanding,” Moore said.

“At just 21, her progression as a leader and defender has continued yearonyear, and her dedication and care for others is felt across the Club.

“We’re thrilled to have 'Buschy' locked in for another year and look forward to her continuing to make a strong impact on field.”
