Both the Essendon Football Club and Community Partner, Bendigo Bank recognise and values the contribution young people make to our wider community as well as the sustained commitment to supporting the development of our youth.

A shining example of the recent support through Essendon’s partnership with the Bendigo Bank was on show last Friday at Windy Hill as eight schools from across Victoria participated in the Bendigo Bank Community Cup.

The focus of the Bendigo Bank Community Cup was to provide an outlet for healthy competition between a variety of schools and hundreds of children who each shared a common goal - a desire to have fun with a genuine connection to their local Bendigo Bank Community Branch.

Over 200 students took to the hallowed turf of Windy Hill to participate in a round-robin tournament of football, with Wallan Primary School sealing victory in the Grand Final over Keilor Primary School.

The schools that took part in the BendigoBank Community Cup included:

- Wallan P.S
- Maldon P.S
- Broadmeadows Valley P.S
- Laurimer P.S
- Strathmore North P.S
- Strathfieldsaye P.S
- St Raphael’s P.S
- Keilor P.S

All schools are to be congratulated for their outstanding fair play and football skills demonstrated by all the young competitors. In addition, the Bendigo Bank staff are to be congratulated and thanked for their enthusiastic involvement throughout the day by assisting as team managers and goal umpires.

Following the tournament at Windy Hill, all children and staff made their way to the MCG to see the Bombers in action against the Demons at the MCG. All 200 children formed a guard of honour on the turf of the ‘G as the Bombers ran out of their race in support of the Call To Arms campaign.

A big thank you to all the outstanding staff from the Bendigo Bank, AFL and the MCG.
