Essendon faces a big four weeks leading up to the AFL National Draft which will be held on Sunday, October 29th.
The Bombers will go into this year's draft with at least six selections - those being numbers 19, 27, 32, 47, 63, 79.
Essendon has six selections because of the retirements of Sean Denham and Darren Bewick and the de-listing of Ilija Grgic, Mark Fraser, Peter Berbakov and Simon Eastaugh.
The man charged with the responsibility of bringing new talent to Windy Hill is recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro.
"We obviously look very closely at what talent is on offer throughtout the season. It is then a matter of looking at what we need and what is available when our selections come around," Dodoro said.
"This year the draft looks to be very even but I'm confident we will be able to find some players who will give this club excellent service."
Dodoro heads up a team of about 15 recruiting staff who scour the country looking for the next star.
"It is a big job but we have a very committed bunch. It is an exciting time of the year for us," Dodoro said.
He said the club was never going to get heavily involved in trade talks directly after the season.
"We went along to see what was being offered but we are pretty happy with the list we have developed and didn't see a lot of point playing around with what we have," Dodoro said.
"There has still beeen a pretty significant turnover of players so the future will be well catered for at the draft."
Dodoro said the club was sad to see Michael Prior head home.
"He has been an excellent player for the Essendon Football Club. We fully understood when he asked to be traded back to his home state and we wish him all the best.
