A list of all 1034 players who have ever played for the Essendon Football Club will be printed as part of the function brochure and every 50th player will be recognised on the night, along with all current players who have debuted. A special jumper will be produced and presented to all living players, including current players. The Essendon jumper will carry the club logo on one side of the chest with the player's name and corresponding number embroidered on the other side of the chest.
During the Chairman's Season Launch a photo tribute to every 50th player will be displayed on the big screen, supported by a brief profile by master of ceremonies Craig Willis. From player 450 (the first living player and the oldest remaining living Essendon player - Jim Bates) a presentation will be made on stage. Current Essendon listed players who have debuted will also receive their own special jumper on the evening. Players who have yet to play their first senior game for the club will also be introduced to the audience. They will receive their jumper on being selected to play their first senior game.
The Chairman’s Season Launch will be held in the Victory Room at The Dome on Friday, March 21st at 7pm for a 7.30 start. Come and celebrate the great tradition of this club and also help the club launch its attack on the forthcoming season. You can help welcome new recruits Adam McPhee and Damian Cupido to the club and see draftees Jobe Watson, Jason Laycock, Jason Winderlich, Tristan Cartledge and Darren Walsh join the team for 2003. Not only will you see the current players be presented with their debut order guernsey, you will also hear from our courageous captain, James Hird who will give us the thoughts of the players as we head into the season proper. And of course four-time premiership coach, Kevin Sheedy will also take centre stage.
