Essendon assistant coach Simon Goodwin says the hard work on the training track is already starting to pay off for the playing group.
Since arriving at the club from Adelaide a couple of months ago, Goodwin has noticed a huge amount of improvement.
“It is exciting for us to be involved with and nice to see the players learning some of things we are implementing.” Goodwin told Bomber TV.

“From the day we walked in at the first session to where we are today, you sit back and watch and review training on your computer and it is noticeable to see the improvement,” he said.
Recently retired from the game, Goodwin says moving away from Adelaide was a tough decision.
“To leave Adelaide, born and bred there, played all my footy there and obviously having an emotional attachment was hard, but I thought it was important to broaden my horizons and get to Melbourne and into a big club like Essendon.”
“I feel we have a talented list that has under achieved in the last few years and it was an exciting challenge to come and work with James and my role now is to help the club have the success that I think it can achieve.”
After eleven years down the highway at Geelong, Brendan McCartney says he needed a fresh start to reinvigorate his coaching.
“I probably reached a time in my coaching life where a new challenge was needed and Essendon are a young list and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with some younger coaches,” McCartney told Bomber TV.
“I had a chat to Hirdy and liked what he had to say and it was no disrespect to Geelong, I felt after 11 years it was time for them to have some different people and different voices around and for me to take my ideas somewhere else.”
