Small forward Angus Monfries looks certain to return to the Bombers' line up this Sunday to play Richmond after a hamstring injury sidelined him for two weeks.
Matthew Knights told media this morning that the 22-year-old would be a big inclusion to a side that struggled up forward against the Western Bulldogs.
“Angus at this stage would seem right to go this week. All the medical information coming through is that he will be fine,” he said.
“I think our medical staff are very diligent, if they are saying to me pretty early in the week that they consider him a very strong chance, I’ll expect him to get over the line.
“It will be great to have him back in the team as he has been a really solid player this year.”
While he isn’t expecting to make too many other changes to the line up this week, Knights said there is plenty of selection pressure mounting after some strong performances in the VFL.
“We are really pleased with Lovett-Murray, Skipworth, Houli and Neagle in the VFL, even Jetta who has been playing as a small defender. Tom Bellchambers has put in a solid performance too,” he said.
“There are probably six or seven guys that have pushed up pretty hard, potentially there might be one or two changes but we will sit down this afternoon and have a look at it.”
Knights also admitted there is a small injury cloud over Jobe Watson.
“Jobe copped a reasonably heavy corky and his ankle was slightly irritated during the game,” he said.
“He had a really good game against Sydney the previous week, but didn’t play at the same level last week.
“He did play against two quality opponents and they were too good on the day. There is not much of an excuse for Jobe, once a player steps out onto the ground they know they have been selected because they are fully fit.”
