Having made his debut on Friday night against the Bulldogs, 19-year-old, Cale Hooker, is desperate to retain his place and play in Sunday's big farewell game.
Speaking on the Bomber.tv show 'Weekend Rewind', Hooker said it would be an honour to play in Adam Ramanauskas, Mal Michael, Jason Johnson and Damien Peverill's last game with the club.
“I’ve been in awe around those guys,"" Hooker said.
""It’s a shame they have to go but I’m lucky to have been with them for even the one year.
“We have our game review tomorrow and then we will sit down and I will have to wait and see (if he gets a game).”
The West Australian key position prospect said he was thankful for the chance to play senior footy in his first year at the club.
“My main aim of the year was to play well for Bendigo and have a consistent year, improve on my game and to get a game with the seniors was just a bonus,” he said.
The pick No.54 in last's draft collected eight touches and was given the tough task of playing on some of Western Bulldogs in form forwards.
“It’s pretty exciting when you first run out there, you're a bit nervous and trying to do everything right for the team, but I got more comfortable as the game went on,” he said.
Essendon fans would much prefer to see West Coast’s Daniel Kerr play at the Bombers next year rather than Collingwood’s Alan Didak according to last week’s poll. Kerr received almost 71% of the vote while almost 21.8% wanted neither, 3.6% want both and just 3.9% picked Didak.
