Fans frustrated by Gumbleton injuries
Scott Gumbleton’s horror run with injuries continued again in 2009 and he couldn’t add to his tally of five senior career games. He showed some good signs during the NAB Cup game against the Bulldogs which excited the fans but his body did not hold up. Even though the 21-year-old didn't play a senior in game in 2008 either his fan rating was 2.41/10, down from 3.25/10.

Fingers crossed he can play some footy in 2010. With Lucas retiring, it's the perfect time for him to shine. Had the operation he needed to have, hopefully he can take some big marks at half-forward. (Vlad Nedanovski)
This talented/injury plagued forward deserves some much needed luck and must play a full season. When that happens we may finally see why he was so highly touted in the NAB AFL draft. (Geoff Bell)

Can't be rated not having played a game and he remains the real X-factor for next season. Would be fantastic if he could stand up in the midst of Lloyd & Lucas retirements. (Simon Russell)
Get your body right, son. In 2010 Essendon will need a big unit moving through the forward line who can take the big grabs and grab the big bags of goals. (Clinton Fisk)
Scotty would have to be one of the unluckiest footballers in history. He cannot buy a trick and with any luck next year, I have no doubt he can become a very good player for the mighty Bombers. (Glenn Currie)

Obviously injuries have cruelled this kid's chances. As a first round draft pick and with full fitness I am expecting a lot from Scott next year and anything less than a near full season on the track and 30+ goals at AFL level will be a disappointment. (Clifford Davison)
Oh poor Scotty, a 1/10 is my rating for you laddy. Unfortuantly, another year interupted by injury. He looked golden in the NAB Cup, but needs a full pre-season and maybe to just string two or three games together to start getting the jist of things. Looks promising though at 197cms and 100kgs. The Bombers have picked up some good tips from a two-week study trip to America and England according to general manager of football operations Paul Hamilton. A four-man group - made up of Hamilton, Matthew Knights, Adrian Hickmott and Alan Richardson - have returned to finalise preparations for pre-season training and believe they have gathered some valuable information.
