In his first three seasons of senior football, Sam Hunt has spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines with injury. He will be hoping to stay on the park this season and make inroads into the senior team. ""Sam Hunt just hasn’t had a good run with injuries and is very similar to Aaron Henneman in that regard. His career could best be positioned at half back or on the wing or maybe even in the forward line,"" Sheedy said.

2003
Sam Hunt didn't have the ideal start to the 2003 season. He injured his ankle in the February Exhibition match against Sydney and missed the next 10 weeks. Hunt returned to the Bendigo Bombers side and in the second half of the season put in some solid performances. He was overlooked for a senior appearance after playing three games in 2002.

STRENGTHS
Hunt’s dedication and desire to make it at AFL level could be the deciding factor in him becoming a regular senior player. He has been working hard on the training track and he is only too aware that he needs to make an impact this season. His athleticism and height will hold him in good stead at holding down a key position.

POSITION
Hunt has played most of his VFL football in defence at fullback. Due to his height (192cm), Hunt looks like a player who could slot into the spine in the years ahead. Full back, centre half back or centre half forward would appear the most likely options. In 2004 he is likely to slot in where he is most needed and needs to get some solid form behind him to show he is serious about playing senior football.

2004
Without doubt 2004 is a make or break year for Sam Hunt. Heading into his fourth season at the club, the 21-year-old must break into the senior team. He has showed promise in previous seasons, but it is time for him to put his hand up and take the next step. The pressure is on Hunt to decide how bad he wants it.

WHAT SHEEDY SAYSSam Hunt just hasn’t had a good run with injuries and is very similar to Aaron Henneman in that regard. His career could best be positioned at half back or on the wing or maybe even in the forward line. We have kept him down at fullback for a while because it does take a long time to play fullback, it is not just an easy position to play. The ball comes in pretty quickly and you start to appreciate the likes of Stephen Silvani and Dustin Fletcher.
