Essendon's fastest player over 20m, Jarrod Atkinson, has been upgraded from the rookie list, to replace another speester, Alwyn Davey, who was placed on the long-term injury list after Round 8.
 
Atkinson, 23, played his second AFL game for the club in Friday's win against the Eagles after being taken as a mature age recruit with the club's final pick in the 2007 rookie draft.

Dustin Fletcher is due to play his 288th senior game against Carlton on Sunday, bringing the total games played by he and father Ken (264 games for Essendon) to 552 games, breaking the all-time record held by the Silvagni family.
 
The five leading families are as follows: Silvagnis (551 games comprising 239 games for Serge and 312 games for Stephen); Fletchers (551 games comprising 264 games for Ken and 287 games for Dustin); Tucks (506 games comprising 426 games for Michael and 80 games for Shane); Whittens (465 games comprising 321 games for Ted snr and 144 games for Ted jnr) and Tucks again (431 games comprising 426 games for Michael and five games for Travis).
 
400 official games - Mark Thompson. Mark is due to participate in his 400th official game this week, comprising 202 premiership matches as a player for Essendon between 1983-96 and 197 premiership matches as a coach for Geelong since 2000.

Automatic AFL Life Membership - Brett Ratten. Brett qualifies for automatic AFL life membership with his 300th game this week, comprising 255 premiership matches as a player, 19 pre-season matches as a player, three State of Origin matches as a player, two International Rules matches as a player, 18 premiership matches as a coach and two pre-season matches as a coach.

200 games - Nathan Bassett, Adelaide. Nathan is due to become the eighth player in the history of the club to reach 200 games since it joined the AFL in 1991, joining Mark Ricciuto (312 games), Ben Hart (311 games), Andrew McLeod (295 games), Nigel Smart (278 games), Tyson Edwards (278 games), Mark Bickley (272 games) and Simon Goodwin (227 games).

2008 AFL ATTENDANCES

The AFL's round 12 attendance figure of 306,451 represented the ninth separate round this year that AFL attendances have exceeded 300,000 people. This has now established a new all-time record for total rounds of 300,000 or more people, eclipsing the previous mark of eight separate rounds established in the 2005 season. At this point of the 2009 Toyota Premiership Season, AFL attendances are 5.8 per cent ahead of last year's figures, with 3,697,921 this year, compared to 3,494,361 in 2007.
