The partnership will provide support at a grassroots level through funding and promotional initiatives while further enhancing the club’s ongoing commitment to the north-west region of Melbourne.
Essendon acting CEO Dom Cato said the club looked forward to delivering positive outcomes through its support of the EDFL and RDFL.
“Junior football plays a key role in the promotion of healthy and active lifestyles, sportsmanship, social cohesion and community spirit and we are delighted to be able to assist in enhancing these outcomes for families in Melbourne’s north-west,” Mr Cato said.
“As a club, we are committed to strengthening communities through sport and we are pleased to be able to do so in an area that is integral to this football club and its new training and community facility at Melbourne Airport.”
The new partnership will also see Melbourne Airport partnering with the Essendon Football Club to deliver additional benefits including junior club training sessions at Windy Hill, school holiday talent programs and coaching master classes.
General Manager of People and Performance Colleen Newsome said Melbourne Airport were thrilled to announce the community partnership.
“Melbourne Airport is delighted to announce our community partnership with the Essendon and Riddell District Football Leagues,” Ms Newsome said.
“As part of our broader commitment to nurturing talented youth within the west, we’re particularly excited that our involvement will see the return of the Essendon Football Club’s school holiday program for talented young players.”
