A highlights collection of 17-year old Pears, who was taken with pick 23, playing for Western Australia's all-conquering under/18 team shows why Essendon list manager, Adrian Dodoro, was surprised he was still available when the Bombers had their second pick in the draft.
Pears is wearing number 17 for WA.
Pears - who watched training at Windy Hill today with fellow recruits David Myers, Cale Hooker and Darcy Daniher - is 190cm, 92kg and is expected to develop into a quality key backman.
He recorded an outstanding 2.92 seconds for the 20m sprint – placing him in the top 10 percent of players at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft Camp.
