Promising young gun David Myers has recovered from a knee injury and will play for the Bendigo Bombers this weekend against a Northern Bullants side jam packed with Carlton listed players.

The 19-year-old received a heavy knock last weekend and wasn't able to play the rest of the game but coach Adrian Hickmott says he is right to go.

""He just had a little knock to the knee and we took him off more as a precaution so he would be able to play this week,"" Hickmott said.

""He trained hard on Tuesday and Thursday and is right to go. He has been good for us and he will be important player this weekend.""

Hickmott said that the return to VFL of Sam Lonergan and Heath Hocking would add some serious midfield grunt to a team that has been focusing on getting the small things right.

""Over the last three weeks we have been focusing on the basics of the game with each individual player,"" he said.

""Things like Zaharakis' work-rate over the game to get to more contests, Jay Neagle and Darcy Daniher's work-rate to lead-up to the ball and have a real impact and keep the ball in the forward 50m.

""Our highest goal kicker is still Scott Lucas and he isn’t playing for us so we want to feed the ball to Neagle and Daniher and even Delahunty so we can get more goal scorers averaging around two goals per game.

""The playing group was really consistent last week in their work ethic but guys like Myers, Houli and Zaharakis need to keep producing consistent performances to put selection pressure on the AFL side.""

Hickmott singled out Flaherty, his captain, for special praise.

""His resilience has been great; he has been consistent and been an excellent leader. I am really happy with his development,"" he said.

The Bullants will feature a raft of players with serious AFL experience including Warnock (in his first game of the season), Walker, Robinson, Stevens, Wiggins, Hadley, Cloke, Garlett and Jacobs.
