The wash up:
The fan’s believe that next season Richards’ needs to take a step up and cement a position in the senior line-up after only playing two senior games in 2002. They agree the 19-year-old has a good work ethic and shows great endeavor, but needs to focus on improving his skills. A number of the Bomber supporters reported that they haven't seen a lot of Richards play, however some did mention they thought he had a solid year in the VFL and will only improve next season.

""In his first year I remember vividly that he was pushing for senior selection but just didn't quite make it. He played two senior games for us this season and he did do a good job. What he has to do now and he understands this - is he has to get his skills right so he doesn't turn the ball over too much. He has to find himself a position in the game and make an impact. He has enormous endurance, so I am interested in maybe playing him in a ruck rover role. Sometimes you can see another side to a player that perhaps you haven't seen, so I would be pretty keen to try him in another position. Ted has put on a couple of kilograms already and during the break he has been working very hard to get his body right, so I have no doubt he can make it next year.""
