REYNOLD'S MINI OLYMPICS
Joel Reynolds could possibly be training for the Athen’s Olympics at the moment, but instead he is in the midst of his third pre-season with the Bombers. Before coming to Essendon, fitness coach John Quinn spent years training Olympic track athletes and he had no hesitation in saying that Reynolds has the physical attributes of a potential Olympic sprinter or long jumper. Despite choosing football as his career path, Reynolds will still get a taste of the sprinting action tomorrow when he competes in the Rye Gift.

The pre-season competition is normally an opportunity for clubs to blood their young players. It gives the players a taste of senior football before the premiership season commences. It has always been Essendon's policy to give the draftees a run in the pre-season competition. Last year youngsters Jobe Watson and Jason Laycock featured in the team that was defeated by the Kangaroos in Round 1 of the Wizard Cup.
