The On the Ball program is up and running in 2007 with students from Eaglehawk Secondary College, Kangaroo Flat and Golden Square all participating in visits to Essendon Football Club. St Bernards, Taylors Lakes, Strathmore and North Keilor are also set to be involved in the program this year.

The On the Ball program aims to improve the health of adolescents by encouraging them to get involved and stay involved in sport.

The Windy Hill visit involves a tour of the Hall of Fame and player facilities, a football and netball clinic and an auditorium discussion. The auditorium session focuses on the benefits of being involved in organised activities such as sport and explores risk taking and decision making.

This year’s sessions are being facilitated by Essendon players Jason Winderlich, Scott Lucas, Andrew Lee, Henry Slattery, Angus Monfries, Ricky Dyson, Kepler Bradley and Damien Peverill who have teamed up with Australian Netballers Shelley O’Donnell and Caitlin Thwaites.
