In continued support of its preferred charity, the Cancer Council, Essendon Football Club will host the event which runs on the 8th and 9th of February 2008.
Having battled the disease three times throughout his career at Essendon, Ramanauskas understands the plight that cancer victims and their loved ones face when being diagnosed with the disease.
""It’s tough for everyone who knows someone touched by cancer, there is no doubt about it,"" Ramanauskas said.
""However, through initiatives such as Relay for Life, we are able to take huge steps towards finding a cure and I urge everyone to get involved and help make a difference.""
In February this year, the 24-hour relay event held at Windy Hill raised in excess of $220,000 for the Cancer Council Victoria and Ramanauskas is encouraging the local community to help better that figure in 2008.
""To raise over $220,000 this year was a sensational effort but we can now improve on that,"" Ramanauskas said.
""We need people to gather work colleagues, mates from their local sporting clubs or schools and register a team to make next year’s event an even bigger and better success.""
