Key position forward Scott Gumbleton has been dealt a further blow to his comeback campaign after sustaining a slight hamstring strain on the weekend.

General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton told Bomber.tv that the 23-year-old will miss the next fortnight of football.

“It is unfortunate for Scotty, who sustained a slight strain to the hamstring on the weekend, leaving the ground fairly early on in the (VFL Bendigo Bombers) game.”

“It is a case of not wanting to take any risks and overall it is a minor strain but nonetheless pretty disappointing for Scott,” Hamilton said.

Ruckman David Hille could be a chance to play this week after making progress from a hip injury that kept him out of the St Kilda match on Sunday.

“David Hille will give us a good selection headache as he has the opportunity to come back this week,” Hamilton told Bomber.tv

Henry Slattery will also push for selection this week, returning to full training after breaking his thumb during the NAB Cup campaign.

“Henry Slattery who had a magnificent pre-season and did really well in the NAB Cup has been out with a broken thumb so we hope that both those boys, providing they get through training this week, are available for selection to further strengthen the group,” Hamilton said.
