Mark Mercuri, Dean Rioli, Paul Barnard and Joe Misiti were key contributors in the Bendigo Bombers 57-point win over Springvale today at Optus Oval. It was the first appearance of the pre-season for Mercuri, Rioli and Barnard while Misiti returned to the seconds side in need of a solid four quarter hit-out. Mercuri and Rioli played the first three-quarters before being rested for the final term, whilst Barnard ran out the entire match.
It is almost 11-months to the day since Essendon fans have seen the number seven red and black guernsey in action. The playing drought will be broken tomorrow for Dean Solomon when he plays in the Bombers’ practice match against St.Kilda at Optus Oval. Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy said he is looking forward to Solomon returning and believes the match will be a good confidence booster for the 23-year-old.
