Young Bomber forward Jay Neagle will return to the Bombers line-up this Sunday to take on Melbourne.
The 22-year-old has been rewarded for a three goal effort with Bendigo on the weekend.
""He’ll come back and get an opportunity this week, and preferably that’s for a good deal of time, he can come and show what he has got at AFL level"" Knights said.
""It’ll be great for him and Gumbleton to now play together, preferably for the rest of the season. It's up to them now to make sure they play well and play hard together and build up some chemistry.
""Jay’s definitely a long-term part of our plans.""
Knights confirmed that Henry Slattery will miss the game with sore ribs while Dustin Fletcher will miss again through suspension.
He said that he expects there will be other changes as he continues to find which 22-25 Bomber players will make up the core of the side in coming seasons.
""We'll make some changes this week and keep giving young men the opportunities to show what they can do,"" Knights said.
""At the moment, we’re still going through a transition where we are trying to find out who our best 22-25 are.
""If players in the team are not going with the structures or are not adhering to what we need to put in place well then they can go back to the VFL and continue to learn their craft, it is very simple.""
Fan Note: The TV broadcast of Essendon's Round 15 clash with Melbourne has been re-scheduled to 3.30pm in Melbourne to avoid a clash with the V8 Townsville Round broadcast.
The entire match (which starts at 2:10pm) will still be broadcast so viewers will not miss any part of the match.
Channel Seven, the AFL and V8 Supercars said they are always working together to avoid such clashes.
