Essendon stars Matthew Lloyd and Sean Wellman will take to the race track again this Sunday, January 19th when they compete at the Ringwood Gift. They will be joined by other Bomber players Cory McGrath, Scott Howard, Joel Reynolds, Jordan Bannister and Darren Walsh. Racing will be at Jubilee Park, Ringwood commencing at 12pm and all Bomber fans are welcome to attend.

The main event is the $2,500 400m Ringwood Gift that will feature all of the listed Essendon players. Lloyd and Wellman along with the other five Essendon players will also race in the Novice 70m at 12pm, the Open 70m at 12.20pm and the Open 100m handicap at 1.40pm. Joel Reynolds will be looking to repeat his form from the Rye Gift where he finished second in the 70m novice final and fifth in the 70m open final.

The running group has been training for the past two months as part of the pre season elective program. The elective program was an initiative introduced by fitness coach John Quinn to avoid the monotony of pre season training. The other electives players could choose from included - boxing, triathalon, aikido and pilates.
