Andrew Lovett joins his cousin Nathan Lovett-Murray on the senior list after being promoted from rookie status earlier today. Lovett was elevated ahead of fellow rookie Adrian Wilson. Assistant coach Robert Shaw said it was a tough decision to decide between the two, but opted for Lovett due to his electrifying pace.

""Andrew Lovett’s elevation was a hard call. We have thought long and hard about it over a long period of time. The AFL deadline ran out today and we needed to make a decision. We went for Andrew in front of Adrian Wilson, but we could have gone either way,"" Shaw said.

""I guess in the end we went with the potential excitement machine and pace of Lovett, ahead of the real tough half-back flanker, where Adrian has been playing.""

Lovett has been playing between the wing and half-forward for Bendigo this season.

He was rewarded earlier this year for his outstanding season with a spot in the Victorian VFL team that played Western Australia.

""There is probably more opportunities for Lovett to get a game as a real quick forward, than the opportunities that might arise for Adrian,"" he said. ""At only 19-years of age, we believe that Adrian Wilson has an outstanding future with us.""
