BOMBERS MID-FIELD BOOST
Finally there is some good news on the injury front. Essendon mid-fielder Damien Peverill is a great chance of making his return to senior football this weekend. Peverill was expected to miss up to five weeks after injuring his arm on Anzac Day but he could return after three. ""He has made good progress. It's no certainty he will play. We will test him later in the week but he is very close,"" Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said.

The Essendon mid-field has been decimated in recent weeks. On top of Peverill, the Bombers lost casptain James Hird and Joe Misiti in consecutive weeks. The tough-as-nails Peverill will be a welcome return as the Bombers try and stay in touch with the top four while a number of stars are sidelined. Hird, Misiti and Matthew Lloyd will all be missing for at least another month.
There were a few quirky facts out of Essendon's big win over St Kilda that might interest those who like trivia. The first point of interest came in the first quarter when Paul Salmon bombed a goal from the 50m arc. It was his first goal for Essendon since the second quarter of Essendon's semi-final clash with Richmond in 1995. While we are on goals, Joel Reynolds kicked the first of his career and Adam Ramanauskas haul of three was a personal best.
