Almost 56% of Bomber supporters picked Kyle Reimers as Essendon’s “Rising Star’ in 2008 in last week’s poll.

The nineteen-year-old was an NAB rising star nomination and played 15 games this year adding to his three games in 2007.

Sam Lonergan was a popular choice in second place with more than 35% of the vote. Lonergan managed just one game in his first two seasons but had a break-out year in 2008 playing 19 games and establishing himself as a midfielder of the future.

Bachar Houli was third with just over four percent of the vote.

This week's question pits five great modern day teams against each other and asks: ""Which team would win?""

Here are some of the comments left about who was Essendon's rising star in 2008.

greg from adelaide says: I like reimers as a player, but could not go past lonergan's attitude, toughness and attack on ball and player. myers will be contender for the rising star next year if he stays fit.

jasper from W.A. says: i think Reimers is good but the good thing about Lonergan is that he gos in and gets the ball while popping up to kick goals aswell.

cougar from warrandyte says: Bachar Houli will become one of the games premier wingman in 2-3 years, Sam Lonergan reminds me of a young Mark Mcviegh. Leroy Jetta justs needs more consistancy and to put on an few more kilos. Kyle Reimers will become one of the best finishers in the league like Akermanis and David Myers showed enough to suggest he'll be ok

Sean Carville from hillside, victoria says: Reimers a stand out by far, got a fearless mind set and will be very dangerous. I also thing Myers showed some good signs for a young bloke.

Tay Tay from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia says: Kyle Reimers should have won the Rising Star Award. He has improved so much and i can't wait to see him play next season. I love watching him play!

Jez from Tasmania says: Kyle has played well all season and deserves to be our best rising star. He is a legend and will play 200 games for the club. But Bachar and Sam would be a tight equal second. Then Leroy would be 3rd even though he also deserves to be first. And David will play 174 games for the club.

Ashley from Carlton North says: While Reimers has been great this season, I reckon the team really suffers when Lonergan is out of the side. He's become crucial to the midfield in one season I reckon. Definitely the riser star this year.

paul from perth w.a says: I think they all have performed well and will be great assests for the future

Jamie from berwick, vic says: if everyone could think back to the start of the year. rd 1 Bachar Houli picked up 26 touches and earnt a NAB rising star nomination. reimers wasn't even getting a game when we had a full strength team. houli is a gun! not taking anythingaway from reimers, but he is not our best young player!!! lonergan also had a very good season this year...he should probably win it because he played more games, and he was a star for us! Myers will win the NAB rising star award, you watch! Jetta showed glimpses, but nothing special yet... but i have hope! GO BABY BOMBERS!
