This is what some of the fans had to say about Patrick Ryder’s 2008 season:
Joseph Attard - A stellar year from a second year player. Paddy Ryder ascended from a defender to a superstar defender at an early age. I cannot wait to see more of his high flying exciting action in 2009.
David Street - He is a great player. I've felt that he has faded a bit in the last couple of years. Hopefully in 2009 he will get more support from other players.
Brendan Burnie - Still very impressed with Paddy and what he brings to our club. Continually holds key forwards to a handful of touches while putting his body on the line. This guy can only give confidence to those playing around him and all fans should now have faith in this big fellas heart. If Knighter can resist throwing him into the ruck when Hille gets no help, Paddy will soon earn respect enough to gain an All Australian selection in no time flat.
Don Carter - Best backman we have the future will revolve around him.
Jezza Chau - Played a full season and has found himself the best position worked very well in the defence! great season for Ryder!!
Rod Ansell - Played every game against a variety of opponents and never stopped trying. Was outsized on many occasions but stood up to the task even pinch hitting in the ruck when needed. Needs some support/assistance down back but is a genuine player of the future with great skills, athleticism and class.
Greg Kemp - A very good prospect, one of many we have for a key position. is young, needs to build up strength but will be a very good player for the club.
John Hartman - Hasn't Paddy lived up to his expectations. I know he is being groomed as a defender but if he were to play as a forward, I reckon he could be the next Wayne Carey.
Mark Elze - Continues to mature& impress. His high marking is breathtaking. Has taken on some huge jobs already including Franklin& will have learnt plenty. Also held his own against Jonathan Brown. Will be an absolute star when he reaches his pinnacle. Rarely disappoints.
Graham Flynn - Every year gets better. Superstar in the making.
Alan Betts - Continues to develop into a consistent elite mobile tall. Highly skilled and very athletic. Probably more suited to a ruck/leading forward role but is doing a good job of handling CHB to date.
Cameron Gliese - Incredibly accomplished for a key defender his age. Is now our number one defender.
Matt Milburn - Consistent year for Paddy. Solid in defence and surprisingly useful up forward, would be a dangerous weapon if he learnt to lead and didn't just count on his leap.
Caleb Slade - This kid is a star already and in when he puts a little weight on is body there will be no forward that won't be scared.
Nicholas Morrey - Played all 22 games and had a really good year. His is a pure athlete and is going to our main man in a couple of years.
Alan McCready - Established himself as the star of the team carried a shoulder complaint for much of the year. I look forward to seeing Paddy turn in to the star he will be!
Julian McGuire - Very good year, Paddy looks like he'll be a great tall defender for years to come.
Georgina Holloway - Had a great year! Future star of the club
Robert Cleland - Paddy is improving continually. He has the potential to become one of the all time greats. A pleasure to watch Patrick, keep up the good work.
Trevor Swain - All the talks of a future captain should lead to Paddy because he is an exciting talent.
