Star midfielder Jason Winderlich today admitted the Bombers' players were surprised by the intensity of Richmond at the MCG yesterday.

""We didn't respect the pressure that they were going to put on us; as players we respect them but probably didn't think they would have put on as much pressure as they did,"" he said.

""They were fantastic at shutting down our space which probably resulted in us playing stop start football which isn't the brand we want to play; we want to play attacking football.""

The 24-year-old said the side was able to get the ball into the forward 50 more times than the Tigers but were not getting the ball in deep enough near goals.

""We were probably a little Lloyd and Lucas conscious in the first half but we just have to look for the best option in the forward line,"" he said.

Winderlich said the team would have to rebound quickly with West Coast certain to prove a tough challenge in Perth this Sunday.

""They (Fremantle and West Coast) are both five or six goals better at home but with Subiaco being such a massive ground it should help our game style,"" he said.

""Our dream is still alive and we are still in the eight but it was disappointing to lose but our destiny is in our own hands and that is a good thing.

""If we do happen to make the finals it will be good to have earned out spot and not just luckily get in there. We have played some terrific football so far this year and really earned our spot in the eight so far other than yesterday.""

Winderlich admitted the coach was angry with a few parts of the team's game but especially disposal by foot.
