More than half (50.41%) of the Bomber fans who voted in last week's poll: ""What type of player should Essendon be looking to draft?"", believe the club should take a key position backman in the November draft.

Inside midfielder (19.41%) and running midfielder (13.21%) were next most popular choices.

This week we ask ""Who was Essendon's 'rising star' in 2008?"". Rhys Palmer might have won the AFL award but who would win the Bombers' award?

See below for some of the comments about who the club should draft.

Graeme Waters from Gordon ACT says: What we need is someone with the silky skills of Michael Long, the football brain of Tim Watson, the hands and leap of Paul Van der Haar,.....and the.... and the... no we just need another young James Hird

Troy Wells from WA says: we need daniel rich!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geoff from Bendigo says: We need more talls Jordan Lyle or Michael Hurley, Tyrone Vickery,Jordan Roughead for medium size Mitch Robinson, Steele Sidebottom,Matthew Deboer, Tom Scully.

joel bowls from hobart/tas says: with fletcher on the move to retire and matthew lloyd and lucas with a few left in them we need a key forward or key back to start firing buy with back support like ryder and monfries up forward im wondering if we should draft a midfielder.

Steve from Klemzig/SA/Australia says: We need another gun inside midfielder as first pick and then more tall key position defenders with later picks.

Terry Wescombe from Sydney NSW says: We desperately need backline players...who understand defence as the first line of attack and drive the ball forward. Dustin Fletcher has been and is, magnificent...for so many great years. But age is catching up to damn quick. Paddy Ryder has taken on the strengths of the league...and done pretty damn well for such a young gun. They need big help in the backline to share the push forward to our midfield. But most of all we need to mentor all our players into understanding what OUR clubs proud and honoured history stands for. When you put the jumper on...you become part of our new history...so give it everything you have...your blood, sweat and tears and a never say die attitude. Terry

Peter Flack from Moonee Ponds says: We need to get a Key defender to be mentored by Fletcher and I saw a boy called Hurley in the Championships who seemed a perfect fit.

Chris from Wodonga says: Definetly Key Forward or smaller forward. Lloyd is almost finished as is Lucas and with Gumbleton injury prone and Neagle still developing we should look at mid sized half forwards in the mould of Steve Johnson (without the booze problems!) or Mark Mecuri.
