Essendon manager player personal Adrian Dodoro said the two-day camp was a major success.
“It’s essentially a celebration of every player who has ever played 100 games for the club and is fortunate enough to have a son who has the potential to be an Essendon player under the father-son rule,” he said.
“We’ve formalised a program that gets all the boys here at Windy Hill and there is some very exciting talent that I’m sure will come through in the future.”
“We’ve already signed 16 year-old Joe Daniher who is part of the James Hird Academy.”
The sons of guns involved in the camp included Tom Fields, Jydon and Matthew Neagle, Jake Long, Jett Bewick, Callum and Harvey Daniher, Daniel Thompson and Todd Vander Haar.
“For those of us that are nostalgic Essendon supporters and have followed the club for many years it is an amazing experience,” Dodoro said.
“The fabric of our footy club is really important in trying to build the family feel and to get our former players back was great.”
“Hirdy is really big on culture and developing it and enhancing it in any way we can.”
