Archer Day-Wicks will remain a Don into 2027 after signing a one-year contract extension.
Since joining the Bombers as a Rookie selection (pick No.6) coming into last season, the 19-year-old from the Bendigo Pioneers has slotted in nicely amidst the Club’s noted push to bring aboard young talent.
The dynamic forward has found more frequent senior opportunities this season after five games in his debut campaign, lining up in the last six games and showing some very exciting glimpses of his ability.
His burst out of the blocks on Anzac Day with two first-quarter goals - and a classic hanger - in front of more than 92,000 on the MCG was an early ‘big time’ moment in his young career.

Archer Day-Wicks sticks a superb aerial grab and curls his second major after some slick Isaac Kako moves.
Day-Wicks has also impressed Bomber fans with his tenacity, tackling pressure, a willingness to bite off tough kicks and take the game on.
“I’m so happy to extend my time at the Bombers. There’s a strong belief amongst the boys in where we’re heading and I’m excited to be part of it,” Day-Wicks said.
“I feel like I’ve continued to develop as a player, and I’m keen to keep building on that.
“The ongoing trust and belief from Matty Rosa, 'Scotty’ (Brad Scott) and the rest of the coaches has meant a lot, and has helped me continue to grow."
Essendon’s GM – List and Recruiting Matt Rosa said Day-Wicks’ more consistent place in the side and new deal is evidence of the emerging depth in the Club’s rank of youngsters.
“The way ’Wicka’s attacked his first couple of seasons in the AFL system has been great and we’re excited for him to earn another deal,” Rosa said.
“You can see from occasions like Anzac Day that he’s capable of real flair and X-factor, but what’s just as exciting for us is his contest, pressure and desire to know and play his role.
“He’s taken pretty tangible steps forward as a Rookie prospect and it’s nice to see him being rewarded with senior opportunities as a result. We’re keen to see what he can produce into 2027.”
