It was a low scoring affair at Optus Oval today for the Bombers’ practice match against St.Kilda. Despite being the first day of autumn, the weather conditions felt like it was the middle of winter. It rained heavily for over half the match and the conditions ensured the game was a less than impressive skill display. Essendon tried hard all day but were outclassed by a young St.Kilda line-up. The final margin was 14-points.
Mark Mercuri, Dean Rioli, Paul Barnard and Joe Misiti were key contributors in the Bendigo Bombers 57-point win over Springvale today at Optus Oval. It was the first appearance of the pre-season for Mercuri, Rioli and Barnard while Misiti returned to the seconds side in need of a solid four quarter hit-out. Mercuri and Rioli played the first three-quarters before being rested for the final term, whilst Barnard ran out the entire match.
